Palakkad Days - Epic Stand-offs Between Avians, Red Skies And More!

Before I begin about Munnar, I would like to share some awesome moments from my stay in Palakkad.
Obviously the epic stand-off between the peacocks and crows merits mention.
Like we always do, my husband and I had stepped out for our morning walk. My sister had joined us too. That morning we decided to take a route hitherto unexplored by us. It was a narrow lane with houses bordering the edges. As we walked, we came across a majestic peacock strutting over the road.
Now, peacocks are no strangers to the village. They often roam the streets, perch on the trees surrounding houses and search for food and water amidst the foliage that is an integral part of the village.
But that particular day, we didn't see just one peacock.
Even as we watched, one more joined the one standing on the road. Another came, yet another and before we knew it, NINE peacocks had suddenly appeared on the road. Nine!! I have uploaded a video of the same below.
While we watched in stunned awe and silence, there arrived with great commotion, a murder of crows. (Murder is what you call a group of crows). They cawed loudly, started attacking the peacocks with their beaks and did everything they could to scare away the majestic avians. The peacocks, no lesser, put up a tough fight, fluttering their still-growing tails threateningly and running towards the crows.
Eventually the crows won and the peacocks flew over to the roofs of houses, one by one flying away after giving us a majestic spectacle.
This moment will definitely count as the highlight of my stay in Palakkad.
The other defining moment was a red sunset.
That evening, my aunt and I were out, making some last minute purchases before the impending trip to Munnar. We were to leave the next day. As we stepped out of the supermarket, a glorious red sky greeted us. I took a picture of the same but no words can describe the actual feeling of standing under a blood red sky!
I sometimes feel that the spectacular sky is Palakkad's way of sending me love. Last year too, it had treated me with a glorious sunset, the likes of which I haven't seen anywhere else.
I love you too, Palakkad! And I will always carry the precious moments that you treat me to whenever I stay with you.
The next day we were supposed to leave for Munnar 'as early as possible'. Sadly, that's something we as a family have never succeeded in.
