Book Review - Aftertaste Of A Half-lived Life by Barnali Roy
This book is a collection of nine stories based on contemporary issues that are often taken for granted and could do with some much more consideration and attention.
Be it the man who has been the victim of childhood abuse, or
the working mother who in a moment of weakness doubts her decision to embrace
motherhood and finds it difficult to forgive herself for thinking so, or the
strict parent who refused to change his attitudes with time, only to be taught
a harsh lesson by his own kin – each and every story has a common theme of
contemporary issues prevailing in the society.
The author has beautifully brought these issues to life
through poignant stories that hit where it hurts the most. Every story is a
reminder to embrace the times we live in, to show the basic kindness of
unconditional acceptance of people sans any judgement and allowing them the
freedom to live the life they wish and deserve. Every character in every story
makes a lasting impression on the reader.
Perhaps, as the times are changing, people will change too.
Or may be they won’t. But stories like these definitely make you think. And sometimes,
that is all is needed to usher in a change.
This is a truly wonderful collection, and I am recommending
this to everyone who is looking for light yet poignant reads.
The book sounds interesting.the theme is intriguing and feels different than others. thank u fot reviewing this book
