Summer Diaries - Am I Hot? AM I??
Heat... Heat is all that exists in the world. What a day it has been!
There's so much to write but I cannot stop focusing on the heat. At 7.30 in the evening, it is still 40 degrees. I am traveling in the second AC compartment but all I can feel is the heat emanating from the resin beds, the windows and just about everything.
So we left home at 4.30 in the evening. We had to board the train from Kacheguda station at 7. One might wonder why we left at 4.30 to board a train scheduled to depart at 7. The thing is, we have a history with trains. We stand at the wrong coach and run along with the train to the right one when the train arrives at the platform. Sometimes we board the wrong compartment, argue with someone who had been sleeping, then sheepishly realise that we are the wrong party. Once we missed the train. That remains our unsurpassable feat in the whole history of traveling. Not to take any risks, we always try to leave as early as possible. Even if it means waiting at the platform for 2 hours.
We reached Kacheguda around 5.30. It seemed as if this station had incurred the personal attention of the sun. So hot! Being Friday, the crowd was at its best.
Of course we first went to that end of the station which has no escalator or elevator (Ha! I finally learnt the difference between these!) Not to mention that we had four heavy bags with us, the heaviest being the one carrying food. The rest were three gargantuan suitcases. Hauling it all together we walked all the way to the other end and found the blessed escalator.
The train took it's sweet time to arrive. Once it arrived, the staff took their sweet time to open the doors. Once the doors were opened, the fan took it's sweet time to operate. Once the train departed after taking it's sweet time, I am still waiting for the AC to cool the compartment.
The hair that I had lovingly let down has gone up into a messy pile. Looks be damned. I am literally hot today.
The weather is terrible friend. Stay hydrated and have a great trip. Ur musings offer shade on a scorching day
