Consistency Amidst The Change!

Today, the sweater felt stifling.

Today, as I stepped out of my home in the evening, I found a pleasant surprise – at 6, there was still day-light, as opposed to all these days when by 5.30, darkness would descend.

Today, the fan in the home got switched on!

The weather is gradually taking a U-turn. At the Cosmos, events are unfolding. As the Sun steps from one zodiac to another, it is bringing slightly warmer and longer days. Changes are happening at the macro-cosmic as well as the micro-cosmic level!

Change is essential. It is the variety of life. Without change, life would become mundane and dull.

And yet, it is not easy to accept and embrace change. We try to cling on to familiarity, to comfort and to routines. It seems easier. And this, I say as someone who used to be addicted to routine. For me, things had to happen at the regular time, in the regular way, every day. A slight change in the order would make me feel imbalanced. In a Universe that is changing and expanding every second, this kind of clinging on to routine is not at all recommended! The pandemic shook up my routine, messed up my Plan For The Day and taught me to just go with the flow.

As the weather changes around me, it gives me something to reflect and to ponder upon. How to be the stick that bends and yet doesn’t break?!

It is inevitable that at some point of time, we will encounter change. So why not be prepared for it? And how do we prepare for change? By holding on to the one thing that we know that we can keep consistent – our inner calm.

Oh, it is not easy to retain the calm within! It requires practice, it requires efforts and mostly, it requires effortlessness. By effortlessness, I mean to say, the state of mind wherein we let things unfold as per the pattern set by a Conscious Universe.

The first step to retain our inner calm is – acceptance. Acceptance, that things will change around us, that we may be required to let go of our old beliefs and thoughts and embrace new trends. And this leads to the second step – Embracing the New. Sometimes, we build resistance against anything that feels foreign or new to us. We need to stop building walls to let in the new! And this can be done by the third step in the process – Cultivating A Sense Of Adventure. Now, by adventure, I do not mean attempting to conquer our phobias or doing something wild and dangerous. Sometimes, willing to change our belief about something itself is an adventure! Cultivating a mind-set where we proceed ahead through unknown paths of life with the purpose of either winning or learning the lesson that was meant to be learnt, is nothing short of an adventure!

Accept that change is inevitable.

Embrace the New wholeheartedly.

Cultivate A Sense Of Adventure and try to walk down a new path!

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. - Socrates
