The Chase I Lost Myself In!

In the chase for fame,

In the process of making for myself a name,

My destiny I left behind,

Only the chase reigned on my mind.

In the chase, I forgot who I am,

Foremost in my mind was only glam,

The purpose for which I was born,

It got left behind, forgotten and forlorn.

Did I succeed in the chase?

Was there, of satisfaction, any trace?

Did I achieve what I wanted to?

Was it really what I was supposed to do?

Fame, I did get a glimpse of,

My name flashed for a while, sort of.

But fame and glam proved to be fleeting,

I eventually ended up, in dissatisfaction, seething.

Was this for which I gave up my destiny?

Was this what amounted to now, my identity?

The thought screamed in my mind 'Not this!'

In the chase for temporary, many a moment did I miss!

I distanced myself from the chase,

Within me, I searched for a tranquil place.

Somewhere far away from the world,

Where myself and my thoughts I could behold.

I reconnected with my own self,

Recharged and renewed myself!

And I learnt an important lesson,

Born for success is not everyone!

Some people ignite and travel on their own road,

Success and fame, they manage to hoard!

But there are those who, for their purpose, toil,

Their purpose, fame and name only foil!

My purpose is to give words to my thoughts,

To publish all the unsung 'drafts';

They may be read or stay unread,

But fame and name, I should rather dread!

So I choose a life of anonymity,

Of someone who is now a 'has-been' entity.

I know, wins there won't be any,

'Followers' henceforth, there won't be many!

But I choose to look at it this way,

From challenges, I am keeping my passion away!

So no more 'wins' and no more 'losses' for me,

Just a 'writer' will now be my identity!

  1. Wow, I second you in all the lines and all questions you have posed. Somewhere between wins and loses, the sheer purpose of passion is being left out. I just loved this blog❤❤ Keep writing and keep inspiring❤
